The New Supervisor Onboarding Program is a five month program that will equip new people leaders at SoCalGas with the tools and training that they need to be successful. The program has several components:
Online courses can be taken at the learner's convenience. These courses cover the basics of what a supervisor needs to know, particularly with regard to legal issues.
In-person training is led by knowledgeable facilitators, who will help new supervisors develop in their leadership journey through interactive discussion, scenario practice, and more. Training will take place virtually until it is safe to gather at the Monterey Park Learning Center and will occur on specified dates throughout the program.
Six times throughout the program, supervisors are required to meet with their direct manager for focused development conversations. Both managers and supervisors are provided with guides for these check-ins, which cover goal setting, training debriefs, informal learning, and more.
New supervisors will have the opportunity to be paired with a peer for additional support and learning during the five month program. Additionally, they are encouraged to reach out to Business Contacts at Employee Care Services, Labor Relations, and Safety to assist them in their leadership journey.
